Is 5+ mm really worth it...

when compared to the OE TB. Nicely made product, perfect fit and takes OE wiring connection. The OD of this unit is slightly larger then stock so you'll have to stretch the rubber boot a bit to get it on. A little lube and some heat from the sun seemed to work great. My only complaint would be the screws used to attach the plate to the shaft. The factory unit has small head Torx screws that are deformed from the back to prevent them from coming out. This unit has larger head Phillips head screws that protrude a bit from the shaft. You could argue that they may create turbulence. and drag which could in turn hurt power but you'd probably never feel it. For the price I'd just like to see some more attention to detail paid in this area. I am sure the screws are Loctited but I also spiked the rear as added insurance. This TB seems to be matched well with the CIA I have and so far have been impressed with the perceived power increase and better drive-ability.

Do you really need this on your Raptor?

No, probably not ;-) The OE SVT Raptor skid plate is pretty decent as is, but I just couldn't resist the Ford Racing lettering on the sides. This is certainly a tougher unit, the added rib in the center and side plates no doubt contribute to a stiffer skid plate and the sides do keep rocks and larger debris from entering the engine bay. Its very well made and has a nice powder coat on it. The plate comes with all the blind/clip nuts, bolts with locking compound and includes the cover/access plate for the oil filter. The included mounting brackets match the PN's on the OE units. I suspect this could be used on a similar year F-150 to mount the skid plate. I personally love the way the front of the Raptor look with the skid plate and bumper. This brings it up just a touch. Only well trained eyes would notice it.

Its a factory part, well made and to spec. They had a good price so bought it. It comes from a BMW dealer! Don't be worried about the picture missing. If this is the part number you need this is the part number you will get.
