A Diamond in the Rough Which Became a Great Classic in Film
Breakfast at Tiffany's is a genuine classic in world literature; colorful, lifelike, funny, and emotionally wrenching at times. Truman Capote crafted an original, rough diamond that was made into a huge and enchanting gem of a film. It's fun to trace creativity from its source to its near perfection. See the film first, to realize how timely it was.
The 1950's and '60's were very eccentric and bubbling with energy, both creative and destructive. Capote was a vivid, realistic writer, and a real oddball to boot. Everyone who lived around his time knew a character like Holly Golightly; funny, beautiful, frustrating, irresponsible, and memorable. Shakespeare would have written about her if he could have.
