Show Boat
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I'll be brief. In the days of the Hollywood musicals this is MGM at its best.Wonderful sets, eye catching costumes,. fabulous music with great voices to do it justice.
The story encompasses romance, drama, and sadness that brings a lump to the throat. But oh!, oh!, oh!, the very young Ava Gardner steals the show. Her performance is gut wrenching and worthy of a half dozen Oscars. Was there ever a more beautiful girl?!!!
To put it mildly---Highly Recommended !!

Scaramouche Outstanding production
6 von 6 finden das hilfreich This is the movie Stewart Granger REALLY wanted to make. He did not want to sign a contract for several years with MGM but did so on condition this role would be his--and he certainly made it his.
The movie is MGM at its best--wonderful sets, fabulous period costumes, romance & action--ending up with the longest sword fight ever filmed & in which Granger refused to use a double. As a result of that decision he suffered two serious injuries which plagued him for the rest of his life.
Granger fills this role with zest and energy and I can't think of any actor who could have come close to his performance.
Wonderful,wonderful production !! Enjoy!!

Eddie Fisher Enjoyed
Any fan of Eddie Fisher will enjoy the music----the guy could really sing. But I think the real attraction about this disc is the very interesting interview with Eddie Fisher where he talks about his successful tours, including one to Russia at a time when few visited the country
Also interesting are the insights into his three marriages, and also how he unwittingly became involved in the drug scene through President Kennedy's doctor.
The section full of newsreel clips is also very enjoyable
This dvd is well worth the price!!!!!!!!!!!
