The Blind Connemara
I have been a life-long reader and collector of C.W. Anderson's books, but this book, THE BLIND CONNEMARA, has a special place in my heart. The Blind Connemara was my pony for 25 years, and I am the "Rhonda" in the book.
As with nearly all of his young adult fiction, the author combined a young rider and a horse with a challenge, along with an old horseman as mentor. But in the case of this book, I saw throughout the writing how Mr. Anderson combined actual events (the show with the unexpected jump Pony could not do, the unexpected re-learning to jump, the breakdown of the truck) with fictional events added to further the plot. Pony's gentle, generous, and courageous temperament come through the text, as, I think, does my love for him.
The one thing this book lacks when compared to others by Mr. Anderson, is pictures. He died while still at work on the illustrations, and in fact some which were still in his studio were not sent to the publisher. However, those illustrations which are in the book delineate Pony's conformation and alert expression very well.
Certainly few artists knew how to bring horses to life on paper as did C.W. Anderson, and he crafted a tale which, I know, truly did justice to a marvelous little horse with a great heart.

Wonderful book!
The only thing I don't like about this book is that I didn't have it when I was staying within a stone's throw of Edgehill for several summers! Wonderful book, and in brand-new condition.
