Land of the Firebird: The Beauty of Old Russia
I bought this book for a friend who is going to Russia for the first time. It was written by Suzanna Massie, wife of Robert K. Massie, who wrote "Nicholas and Alexandra" and "Peter the Great". I have a copy of this book myself and read it before my husband and I went to Russia in 1986. At that time, before Glasnost, there was little you were allowed to see under Communism besides the outside of buildings, churches were closed, etc., so it was important to know how to glimpse evidence of their cultural history. Richly illustrated, "Land of the Firebird" is a sumptuous delight.

Very cute placemats
Reslly like the placemats. They are reversible and are sturdy and easy to clean. Cute patchwork print on one side and red and white check on the other side.
