never too old to start learning
The writing itself is more than adequate and full of good humor and illustrations of the lessons. However!..the reading becomes more interesting than the learning from it, in my opinion. I'm from very old school education with practice practice and home work. SO far in my reading there is none of that. THe teaching style is so different than when I was in 7th grade "eons" ago. I'm not giving up however. Maybe I shall once again enjoy math.

Pre-Civil War in Spain, a personal travel story.
This author takes me on foot through a country I love... It is a remarkable journey just on the fringe of the Spajish Civil War 1936/7. I remember the actual news of this when in junior high and was so impressed then.
Laurie Lee's writing is perfect and engaging in describing the landscape, the people, the history. from Vigo to Barcelon to Cadiz and back to England.. as a very young man. I never wanted him to leave Spain.
