When you need the OEM remote, it's the option.
Well, these are the original remotes that work as they should. Some aftermarket remotes don't open the trunk on some VW vehicles, and these ones is the only option for that.
Of course, if you buy them used, they feel like used ones, even with new VW stickers on them.
So what I do, I just buy a cheap aftermarket remote for its shell, and a used OEM one like this for its electronics board, them I combine them. That requires some skills to fix the board inside the aftermarket shell because they don't fit exactly, so some hot glue gun is needed sometimes, but after that it works perfectly.
Regarding the immobilizer chip inside, it's useless for 2006 and newer VW vehicles, you can't add it to your car's computer, you have to use your old chip, or if one of your original remotes is lost, you need to find a locksmith who can clone your locked 48 type chip from another remote, it's doable in 5 minutes with a proper tool.
