Extremely encouraging, hundreds of thing I didn't know
This book is a very easy read, and the style is very conversational. Far more than most, it seems like the writer is there. It was written so an older child could understand, yet the information reveals excellent thought and scholarship. The book reveals many, many little details about the life of Jesus, how He approached things, and the extremes He and His Father went to so that we would feel encouraged, not intimidated or without hope. I felt like it helped me much better picture and experience the man, Jesus, as He walked the earth. We know of the cross, but God's love and care were revealed in so many more ways, the "little things" that really are so big. I had read and heard most of it, but not understanding the significance of many of those things, I paid little attention. This book really brought so much of that to life for me.

Great show to watch, especially if you remember Big Red at all! What an amazing horse!!!
Love and studied a lot recently about Secretariat, Big Red! The movie isn't a perfect copy, but pretty much all of the important stuff is. Besides that, the artistic licensing is good or entertaining, and does not detract from the over all story at all. Wanted a copy of this to watch when I wanted. I've watched the original Triple Crown and other races so many times that it's also fun for me to compare them to the movie.

I love that it is based on a true story, just happened to be about 20 miles from where I now live, and I never knew about it. It shows the struggles that exist within our culture toward anyone who is different, whether by race or mental abilities. It's interesting how sports has been involved in overcoming such prejudices through the years, even as we hear on TV how a civil war stopped in Africa because for the first time a country's team made it into the World Cup soccer tournament. Precious and few are those who are willing to take a stand for what is right to help someone else, even if it costs them personally. Of course, in the long run, it pays off. I love the extra stuff that shows the real people the movie is based on, and how the different actors approached their characters. The grating realities of life are frequently lightened by humorous bursts. The acting is excellent, including the sports scenes (which surprised me) and I was totally amazed by some of realism of certain scenes, such as when the coach comes home, and his daughter tells him Radio's mother had died. This is a great family movie, and like my favorite movies usually do, gives you some things to think about, and to apply in your own life.
