It appears to be an OEM product, but actually I have not installed it yet as the saw is going through PM.

Options on suppressor/hider vs. brake or thread protector
You have two options in CA. Remove the flash suppressor/hider and replace it with a $60+ muzzle brake. Or, remove the suppressor/hider entirely. If that is the route you chose to take then you might consider installing a barrel thread protector for +/-$9.00.
