An excellent model of a modern coal car
Athearn has steadily improved their brands and the Bethgon Coalporter in HO scale is a fine example. These cars are nice replicas of the modern 100 to 110 ton capacity cars used to move coal from mines to electric power plants. The cars are neatly painted and well detailed. The small details may make them undesirable for modelers with small children who "help" on the train. The cars can be a bit pricey compared to some competitors, but feature many separate parts and small details. The wheels roll freely. The plastic knuckle couplers work fine, but a good mtal coupler is better for long trains. The cars come with a removable coal load.

can't beat PECO track!
PECO is an English model company that also makes track for US model railroaders. Their products are top notch and can be used for DC or DCC operations. Their track is excellent and their turnouts ("switch tracks") are made to finer tolerances than most other brands. This curved turnout helped me fit a junction into a curved area.

Great little throttle to add to a DCC system
2nd one of these I have added to my layout and there may be more. Fits right in to a Digitrax system. Easy to use and adds capability for more operators to run trains. Delightful little item.
