Struggles to reach the top of the game
Through out this novel you learn of the difficulties of being a pimp. This comes with not so loyal whores, drug addiction, being in and out of prison and being one of the last left standing. You see Iceberg Slim go from a young and eager pimp to a man who grows to face the consequences to his actions. An entertaining and eye opening read.

Great story broken up into compelling narratives.
Bolaño is a master of his craft and brings each of the stories told in this long novel to life. I greatly recommend, if possible, for it to be read in it's original language but the translation does a very good job at retaining Bolaño's ideas. Very recommended.

Like Lay3r Cak3, but different
The nameless protagonist is now on a road full of madness, a theme present in the title and the novel it self. It comes off a bit more mature than Lay3r Cak3, lacking some of the language of the previous novel and replacing it with the idea of intense paranoia, violence, depraved actions and madness.
