Better than I Expected
I was asked to conduct a ballet from pit that was dark and having played in the orchestra myself, I knew how hard it was to see the baton (yes, some players actually look at it). I found the NeedleLite online and bought it. I had it in my hands in 48 hours. At the first rehearsal I took it out and some said that they couldn't see it - it was clear. Then I turned it on - the ooohs began. A bassoonist said "Luke, I am your father". But when it came to visibility this baton was great. No one complained. In fact, the one person who couldn't see it that well was me! But the glowing tip was clear for all to see. The batteries lasted for all rehearsals and performances, but I bought a replacement set (expensive!) just in case. The baton didn't fall apart or have any problems at all. If you conduct in a dim, dark environment I recommend this without reservation. Is it heavier than a traditional baton? Yes, it's a bit heavier than my preferred stick (I make them myself), but no hand cramping occurred. The balance point was right where the stick meets the handle. There would be two things that would make me happier: make it two inches longer and brighter if possible.

Superb Mahler
There are many fine sets of Mahler symphonies, but in terms of musical integrity, excitement, and sound, this one is a top contender. Just add Chailly's superb Das Lied, the Klagende Lied and the songs and it could be all the Mahler you need.
