Great Resource!
The Writer's Block is an excellent resource for any writer. It offers multiple types of writing prompts: pictures, starting sentences, spark words, topics, and advice/exercises from legendary and contemporary writers. The book encourages creativity, from it's non-traditional shape to the lack of page numbers. There are no chapters, no lengthy reading passages combined with specific exercises. Instead, the writer opens to a page at random and allows their creative genius to explore and explode.

Excellent reference
Addonizio begins by helping writers explore the wealth of possible subjects available to them. She provides explanation and beautiful examples, then moves on to exercises that help the writer delve into the subject areas. She moves on to language itself, including rhyme, rhythm, and structure. She explains how to use them in a way that drives home the poem. Finally, she offers advice and resources for gaining confidence, getting past blocks, and getting published. The book is truly a companion and guide for poets at any level.
