Why you NEED TO BUY this book...
OK, here's the story: you're the only musician in your band that is PC-savvy enough to figure out digital recording, you can't afford the multi-K$ ProTools and you did snarf a free copy of Cubase LE with your new USB microphone or USB mixer/interface box, and the band wants to start recording their rehearsals and listening to them on their home/car CD players by the next evening. Congratulations, you got the gig, now you realize there's a boatload of stuff involved with learning Cubase. You can (as I did) spend a week at home crashing through the basic steps of importing, editing, exporting, file conversions (don't get me started on these :() OR you can pick up books from the library about Cubase VST, SX/SE (of which about 10% of the information has any relevance to what you NEED to do RIGHT NOW!) OR you can BUY THIS BOOK and page through it in an hour. Yeah I know the bigger 300+ page books are more impressive and have all sorts of cool chapters that you'd really like to sink into, but hey, you band doesn't CARE about that! They want their rehearsal mixes on CDs because that's how your band is going to get better and get some low-budget CDs made to hand out to your fans and sell at shows. That's what THIS is about, that's why they picked YOU to do it, and you KNOW you can do it if only you had the right book to start with. This is the one, trust me. I have it next to my PC and my only regret is not getting it earlier when I started recording my current band's rehearsals. There is more meat to this book to keep you occupied for a few weeks more reading, but I have to say that if I spent an hour briefing through and bookmarking pages, I could have made better CDs - and THAT'S what it's REALLY all about! :D

Microbiology meets new age through the power of positive thinking
One of the best books written by a medical professional (microbiologist, professor and cellular specialist) on the inner workings of the human cell and how there may be a connection between positive thinking and electrochemical interactions between the mind and the cells in the body. You don't need to be a college graduate to understand this book and it has received very high ratings all over.
I've read the 2005 and 2008 editions and plan to get the 2011 edition to check any revisions. This is worthy of your attention if you have any doubt in the power of belief and positive thinking on your health and well-being.

How do I trash thee? Let me count the ways...
I forgot what moment of weakness or browsing caused me to buy this one on eBay. And in a half-century of film-making, I've seen some of the worst films ever made, both commercially and privately. So I say here and now with very little second thought that this is at least one of the three worst films I've seen in my life. (arguably in a class with "Eraserhead", which has more to offer) How do I start?
-this film is an insult to adult and independent filmmakers who have featured better looking women, more artistic and/or explicit sex scenes, and better set design;
-this film is an insult to witches and the Wiccan community worldwide, who are nothing like the characters portrayed in this film;
-this film is an insult to women in film. Those who have worked in major banking and legal centers such as Wall St (New York) can find 10 better looking women in 5 minutes during lunch hour.
-this film is an insult to the intelligence and originality of all of us. I daresay that 7 out of 10 of you reading this could buy a videocam, a copy of Filmmaking for Dummies and the right software programs and eventually come up with a better film than this one, say within a year.
-this film is worth about the price of a good cup of cappuchino or a glass of white zinfandel at your local restaurant. If I had to do it over again... well, you get where I'm going with this.
In short, there is NOTHING redeeming or valuable about this film save one: if I were teaching Filmmaking 101 at my local college, I would present this film at a couple of lectures and demonstrate all the ways to make a bad film.
Well, at least I said something nice about this one...
