Samsung SGH-i637
4 von 4 finden das hilfreich I used to have a Sony Ericsson P990i which was extremely unstable, requiring frequent rebooting which meant having to remove the battery when it froze, apparently due to having too little RAM.
I wanted a one-piece (no moving parts) Windows Mobile phone, and I picked the i637 on the basis of its processor speed and RAM.
I got the unlocked phone, configured it to work with my local cellular service provider following one of the many tutorials available online, and I couldn't be happier. It feels quite fast, rarely freezes and when and if it does, the Task Manager can easily take care of stopping the misbehaving application.
The pressure-sensitive four-way navigation rocker makes scrolling easy, although it feels a little weird to use it to guide a pointer such as within Internet Explorer (I was used to a touchscreen), but one gets used to it fairly quickly. I find it much friendlier to use than a trackball, and the familiar progress bar, similar to that seen on desktop computers, in my opinion makes waiting for downloads much more bearable than the flashing arrows and step-by-step explanations seen on Blackberries.
The 3.2 Megapixel camera is good as far as smartphone units go, and although it has no flash, it has decent low-light sensitivity. It won't replace a dedicated digital camera, but will work well for everyday picture taking.
The keyboard is easy to use and although the keys have no space between them, one gets quickly accustomed to it. It's just a matter of being careful not to mistakenly press the keys to either side of the spacebar while typing, since these serve to launch applications.
I love how different applications interact with each other, such as being able to save names and addresses from GoogleMaps into my Address Book.
Reception is not the best, however, nor is battery usage. I sometimes need to hunt around for a good clear signal and the battery has a hard time keeping its charge through one day with moderate use.
Other than that, this smartphone works like a charm and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Art in motion
I stood in awe when I first saw this movie projected on the wall of a building in front of a trendy open-air nightclub. I looked for it everywhere and finally ordered it from Thermite Media. As soon as I received it I organized a screening party including an intellectual cuban couple, whose comments greatly enhanced the viewing experience.
According to them, except for the student rally on the University steps, it is not a factual depiction of historical events.
It does definitely not constitute an accurate portrayal of the cuban people's character.
But it is a delightful work of art that takes your breath away. It's like watching the best photographic exhibition you have ever seen, except in motion.
The content I find not epic nor heroic, but instead deeply artistic. I think it accurate to call it poetic. Can be watched over an over again.
It is imperative to first watch the movie and then the documentary, back-to-back.
