Algebra? Algebra!!

I have never met a Marilyn Burns book that I didn't like. Her writings/sponsored textbook are one of the three heavy hitters in my arsenal. This book is phenomenal in the presentation of Algebra. There are numerous activities that can be integrated into your curriculum with relative ease. A side note, since the activities are printed b/w in descriptive words on paper, I always think "Oh, this will probably be a drag..." I am quickly becoming a convert. I have N-E-V-E-R introduced an activity (I call them "Math Labs") to my students that they didn't go crazy for. They love it! I find it infinitely amusing that they feel like they're "getting out of math" when we do these activities. Marilyn Burns is the master at seamlessly and flawlessly transitioning students into a subject. The only other author I have found that can match her is Harold Jacobs. This textbook accomplishes this very effectively. It is critical for Mathematics to be presented with not only problems and solutions, but genuine understanding of the theory behind the subject. Marilyn Burns integrates these two concepts for not only the student, but for the teacher as well. I would also recommend her book "Teaching Mathematics for Grades K-8" and any other book she has written. I own and use most of them in class nearly daily. In addition, other authors who can help you become a great math teacher: Harold Jacobs and Danica McKellar.

Naneu Urbangear... For fast pace...

This is a very solid backpack! Doubled by design, my camera and lenses are snug and safe. The dividers are soft and can be configured in an way desired. Pros: Solid, tough outer shell, two front pockets, very comfortable shoulder straps, nice handle on the top (solid) not too heavy... Cons: Just a little small for my equipment, double zipper (two compartments) make it tough to access camera quickly. Great for day trips, and would be excellent for airline travel (I would never check my gear) because it can take some bumps and is easy to handle.
