Not so good on SATA cable or SATA to USB
I bought this box to use as a JBOD server. I've purchased similar units off of eBay. Out of the three "Rosewill" boxes that I've purchased on eBay only one has giving me trouble free operation in the way that I need to use them. This particular one behaves like a 5 bay item I bought some time ago. It does always mount all of the drives and I have to turn it on and off and connect and disconnect the cable frequently in order to get them mounted. The way in which I have set these boxes up are as JBOD servers connected via eSATA or eSATA to USB 3.0 conversion. It's very possible that the unit is truly ONLY meant to be used with the card that accompanies it but I am using an iMac so there is really no way for me to test or use the PCI card outside of springing for one those PCI chassis boxes. Still, I have one so called "Rosewill" box that does work perfectly on an eSata to USB 3.0 so I guess I've been spoiled by that. However, it seems to me this unit should work via the connection provided. Therefore, I'm rating this unit lowly. Perhaps others will fare better, especially via the included PCI card.

Very entertaining...
..and lots of value at this price. Definitely recommended if you're still a PS3 user and like sports games.

Loud fans
The cooling on in this box is sufficient but the fans are loud. Good thing I don't have it on all of the time. I had issues with drives mounting but I've experienced the same problem with other JBOD eSATA boxes. Overall, this provided a decent JBOD solution. It works.
