Traxxas Slash 2WD 1:10 Alloy Front Steering Block, Blue by Atomik RC - TRX 3736

Great, rugged upgrades.
I built a 2wd Slash from scratch around a low cg chassis and used all Atomik RC billet components for the front and rear suspensions with the exception of the front tie bar, which is an STRC unit. They work perfectly in concert with one another and provided a really smooth suspension that should be pretty much bomb proof. And of course, from a bling standpoint they look fantastic. They add a few grams to the front and rear subframes, but not too much over the stock plastic components. This truck is super stable and turn-in is fantastic on both dirt and blacktop.

Great, strong, and good looking upgrade parts!

Cool truck, very little impact protection. Fast!
This is one awesome looking truck, and it’s really fast right out of the box. On 3s lipo it’s a total beast. If you get the combo, expect to get a much better charger with storage mode, it’s a must. A big negative concern is the lack of bumpers. It came with one for the front in the box, but only fits the ProSC10 or DB10 bodies. I then crashed it really, really hard after losing control. I hit the tire on my pickup truck at full tilt boogie and shattered the front bulkhead, front shock tower, and upper plate. Without a bumper most of the front suspension is right out there, totally exposed. Now I’m waiting for replacement parts to arrive, which leads to another point: don’t expect anywhere near the amount of aftermarket upgrade parts that you would find with a Slash, or an Arrma, etc. I had to shop two vendors for the standard factory replacements, and very few billet upgraded parts were available anywhere that I could find. I’m still giving it four stars because my lack of driving skills isn’t the trucks fault, it actually handles really well. It’s Uber cool if you like the whole rat rod scene, and it’s nice having something different in a short course truck. It hasn’t had any heat issues yet either, even on 3s. I would totally recommend it, but not as a truck for really hard bashing. Don’t hit any immovable objects like curbs, trees, or parked cars and you’ll be fine. UPDATE: It's back together, and I'm having a blast with it. I ended up cutting about a 5/8" notch out of the bottom of the grill and installed the lower part of the included DB10 bumper only, without the top brace. It didn't kill the groovy look of the grill, and I now have a "springy" bumper that will hopefully provide at least some protection in the front. It's my favorite 2WD truck now. TONS of fun! UPDATE 2: I crashed it again, this time breaking the lower chassis in half, shearing off the servo saver, and breaking the steering linkage. I was able to get aluminum bellcranks and steering rack. After I got it back together this time the steering action is definitely improved. I guess the moral of the story is, for me at least, don’t drive it on 3s. It’s just too fast, and virtually uncontrollable on just about any surface save for blacktop, and I don’t really have any place to run on paved surfaces. Full throttle on 3s will pitch it sideways on gravel, grass, clay, etc. at any speed, get the chassis totally out of shape, and cause complete loss of control. If you don’t stop it quickly you’ll be buying parts. This truck is a ton of fun, but too much of a beast on 3s.
