Most underrated album ever
At Christmastime, when most people listen to Bing Crosby, they listen to his Decca/MCA album "Merry Christmas" aka "White Christmas". But Crosby has another album that he recorded in 1962 for Warner Bros. Records, "I Wish You A Merry Christmas". Even though I was born many years later, thanks to my mother, who made a tape of this album from my grandpa's LP copy, this album has been a big part of my Christmas celebration. Now I have finally found a CD copy of the album, and it sounds as good as I remember it. I often imitate Crosby's performances of the songs on this album when I play the piano at Christmastime.
The reason I give it four stars instead of five is because the CD cover art is different from the original 1962 LP cover art and thus lacks the charm of the original LP. Also not a good thing that I have to import it from a foreign country to get it; this should be available in the US. Nonetheless, the audio content of the CD makes up for it all, and I look forward to playing this CD for many Decembers to come.

Just the way I remember it
Classic Media has a bad habit of screwing up the Rankin/Bass Christmas specials during the "restoration" process. But on this edition of "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town", they left well enough alone and didn't tinker with the sound effects or soundtrack or voices. This special is exactly the way I remember it from renting the Family Home Entertainment VHS or when my youngest sister got the Golden Book Home Video copy in the early 2000s - everything from the VHS prints is left intact in this DVD.
Fred Astaire sings the definitive version of "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town", and there are other great songs such as "One Foot In Front Of The Other" and "My World Is Beginning Today". It's a fun story, and even though the original target audience was the 8-and-under crowd, I am not ashamed at the age of 30 to say that I still love this special and will never outgrow it.
