Good to have but not for a small house.
It's good for a large house, probably not needed for a two-story under 3000 sq. ft house.

It fits my General 1099 Power Humidifier, even though my old one had different design
It fits well with the same size as my old one with different design (bottom not framed). But both do not have significant effect in adding humidity to my house. My old one had been in use for 10 years, and my house humidity was about 30%. After I replaced it with the new one, it has not made remarkable difference.
