It helps protect the carburetor fuel bowl from heat.
Installed on a Mopar stroker 440 with a Torker II intake manifold and QFT 950 annular carb, there is no interference with the throttle linkages or accelerator pumps. The temperature of the fuel bowls are much lower than before.
