This is a high quality unit that I would recommend to my friends.
I purchased this unit to replace a 20 year old system whose CD player recently failed to function. Relative to the vast majority of contemporary home sound systems, the Bose system produces fabulous sound, takes up surprisingly little space, and is very easy to use. It doesn't require ear phones, but I may use them if I like. I'm now investigating the feasibility of adding supplemental remote speakers for added versitility. These systems are a bit expensive, but worth the investment if, like me, you intend to keep them for an extended period of time.
