period drama magic
Having missed the series originally on BBC I was glad to find it at such a reasonable price. It was definitely worth the wait as it is yet another triumphant period masterpiece from Coky Giedroyc. The costumes are beautifully lavish and the cinematography is truly wonderful. If David Lean had made mini series' they would have looked like this. Anne-Marie Duff is wilful and intellegent as Elizabeth I and the male cast is equally as strong. Tom Hardy's Robert Dudley is both infuriating and undeniably alluring making the relationship between them electrifying. A strong historical plot and a well written script make it a really unenjoyable viewing experience. Abit disppointed in the extras - informative but nothing out of the ordinary, about what you'd expect from a BBC dvd really. All in all though, it's fantastic.

Bought for daughter as she loves the melodramatic over acting in these films. She has been laughing so hard watching them.
