Surprisingly, a treasure.
I'm no fan of his TV work finding Shatner unctuous, but this CD persuades me that he is a fine musician! His dry ironic humour, excellent voice, and partnership with Ben Folds all combine to make this a successful album. One or two tracks might not stand up to repeated playing but overall the songs are fine and the album is far more than a throwaway and is certainly not a has-been. For fans of Loudon Wainwright, Nick Cave's cover versions and those who thought that Delia's Gone was a highlight of Johnny Cash's American Recordings.

An audible necessity for the Xerxes
The Xerxes turntable relies on decoupling from the platter all potential sources of unwanted vibration. (This is why it's so important to buy an uncollapsed Xerxes: all the chassis anti-vibration bits are intact). The spindle cap is a key part of the arrangement and yes removing the spindle cap before playing does make a positive difference. But you need the cap for initial setup and alignment when preparing to play an LP. Due to an adventurous kitten I went without a spindle cap for a few months and the problem was revealed by the LP equivalent of wow and flutter. Very pleased to buy a replacement spindle cap that was to Roksan's specification.

Good for single use
This product recharged once but after that it would not hold its charge for second and subsequent use. Meantime my original Makita batteries did hold their charge when charged from that same charger. I bought two batteries and both are unable to hold charge.
