Worked well for a while then expensive repairs

I have owned this cleaner for several years (and it's predecessor the Vortex 4WD.) At first, gave several years of good service - it cleaned the pool - and removed small particles from each corner. It can't climb steps as some people complain about (!) but don't expect it to. Just sweep the steps onto the bottom of the pool! But it exhibits a number of (very expensive) faults - all to do with water ingress. The designers don't seem to have mastered the watertight joint. My first fault was the drive motors for the wheels - water had got into the motor/electronics unit. Repair was new motor unit £480 and labour £300. Then water got into the plug that connects to the motor unit and corroded one of the pins (The 'Error 10' situation). Solution was a new floating cable (it's all one cable) for 1,008 Euros plus £100 labour. Then another similar fault because the socket into the motor unit had a corroded pin and this time NO, I was not going to pay another £1K for a new motor unit. Exasperated bought this new model, which so far has been OK. Fingers crossed but this is an expensive hobby and reviews on other pool cleaners are no better.
