Compelling read !!
Charles Todd draws you in, you want to solve the mystery. He skillfully weaves the story, carefully leaving clues about. His description immerses you - you are there.
I would have never guessed that this writer is an American...Well done!!

Written in the mid 50's, a doctoral candidate and his new wife spend 3 years living in a house as the Guest of The Sheik. While he is doing his research, his wife learns her way around the culture and language. She is gradually accepted and treated as one of the girls.The couple were sad to leave and but happy to return to modern conveniences. You were given an insite into village life in Iraq. I think much stays the same, if not in the big cities at least in the remote areas.
