a great lens, especially value-wise
this is a 'sleeper' lens; it is sharp & has excellent contrast wide open at f6.8 (1/2 stop tween 5.6 & 8); it has 2 elements & a simple but fast push/pull focusing system; it's a people lens, not a landscape lens as the sharpness falls off towards the edges due to its simple construction & it is not really a telephoto optically, it is a long focus lens with the diaphragm being behind the optics; coming apart in 2 sections, it's easy to transport; it's also easy to re-lube as the front lens sections screws out giving access to the 3 rails it slides on; it's underpriced at $400 & a bargain if you are going to shoot people, animals, flowers, anything that's in the center of the lens.
