George Foreman Grill
I have a "George" and I use it so often that I would be lost with out it. A friend has just bought a house and she doesn't have a "George" so I thought it would be a suitable present. It makes wonderful toasties, cooks bacon, sausages, kebabs,chops and burgers. It does not cook fish very well - the microwave is better!
Only downside is the cleaning of it. I find it best to wet kitchen towel when the "George" is still hot and steam loosens fat and makes it easier to remove the grease.

Let Me Be...The Boss by Brod Bagert
Looking for some amusing poems for my Year 2 class to perform in the end of year cancert I was very hopeful that as the book title page states "Poems for kids to perform" I would find something useful in the book. I decided to take a gamble and pay the expensive postage from the U.S.A. and hopefully I would find a few original, amusing poems. What a disappointment it turned out to be as there was not one poem suitable - not even one for me to adapt from its Americanisms to suit my need. I resorted to The Nation's favourite Childrens' Poems and the internet. Luckily I found the following poems - I did not eat the goldfish by Scampi Cat, The Adventures of Isabel by Ogden Nash, We're 15 Ferocious Tigers by Jack Prelutsky (adapted as poem has only 4)and the funniest of all The world's most popular mother by Lynsay Mc Call. Sadly this book has been an expensive mistake as the poems are either just2 or 3 verses and plain silly and not relating to the children or audience. It certainly does not offer what the cover page promised of children being able to perform the poems. To perform choral verse you need to be aware of your audience - mostly grown ups - and this book does not fulfil what is required - amusing,have a link with the adults and most importantly the pleasure the children have reciting the poems. May appeal to an American audience. Sorry thumbs down.
