Angels in the Sky is an "angel" of a book - a must read!
This book is amazing! It tells the real story of how Israel survived to become a country just a few years after the Holocaust in the most improbable of ways. Led by some Jewish businessman in the US, who by clandestine and clever ways and means, created a way of recruiting bands of volunteer pilots who had fought in the WWII - mostly Israelis, Americans and Canadians, they overcame the greatest disadvantages in fighter jet technology. They also overcame political embargoes, both in the US and abroad, and the FBI chasing them, to gallantly overcome and defeat the Arab enemies surrounding them and the powerful British Royal AF backing them. They fought with courage, and endured tragic losses of life along the way, even some infighting amongst Israeli political factions and rebels. But they ultimately emerged victorious and created one of the most powerful air forces in the world, and a powerful army as well, which ultimately created the Israel we know today. This story is told from the perspective of an airmen, so it is very authentic, and I would recommend this book to absolutely anyone who loves history, bravery, and courage in war times!
