Good inexpensive 12-gauge bore sighter

This type of laser is automatically activated by the battery installation; there is no on-off button. If you don't want to have to remove the three batteries each time after using the unit, then do the following six steps: (#1) Cut a strip of paper about 1-1/2" x 3/4". (#2) Roll the paper strip up like a cylinder, starting from one of the long ends, so that the diameter of the cylinder is smaller than the battery compartment. (#3) Insert the paper cylinder all the way down into the battery compartment (#4) Carefully insert each of the three batteries down inside the paper sleeve, with the "+" (plus) side facing upwards. (#5) Get a small, thin, rubber "o-ring" -- the same diameter as the batteries -- and place it on top of the batteries. (#6) Install the battery cap several turns. This procedure will allow you to store the batteries inside the unit without activating the laser. When you want to use the laser, simply unscrew the battery cap, remove the "o-ring" and then reinstall the cap.
