2001 - 2010 YAMAHA RAPTOR 660 OIL PUMP GEAR.
Something this critical needs to be metal and in my mind I think they made it to fail so you burn of the topend that has no bearings in it or even metal shims with oil ports to help save the aluminum head if the gear fails and the top end gets no oil. So many people have the starter clutch go bad and pull start them that leads to the starter clutch shattering and sending metal parts all through the motor and all they needed to do was put some magnets to collect this metal and screens to keep it from going into the oil pump and seizing it and causing catastrophic motor failure by the cam digging into the heads from no oil and overheating and then you need to buy a new head and cam but if you're in their go stage 2 cam because it makes such a big difference in performance with the high compression piston it's insane... I am a certified mechanic and stock high compression piston with stage 2 cam is a huge difference~! I would have stopped riding this Raptor 660 at the Starter clutch going bad but some people aren't smart and it ended up being a $60.00 dollar repair turning into a money pit I have too much into to stop now. Now head and valves, High compression piston rings, Stage 2 Cam, Oil pump and gear and also the water pump. So from $60.00 bucks to $750.00 bucks? I've also noticed on the back of the clutch the other gear that runs the oil pump gear is plastic as well or Teflon? In any case it has a missing tooth but seems to be pumping fine but they build these things to fail as to keep mechanic's in the money and they could be put together so much better and they really need to make the option of getting metal gears, they do make one on a aftermarket clutch but I imagine if you buy it you need to buy their whole clutch with plates and everything cause chances are your stock ones will not fit it? NOT HAPPY ABOUT THE WAY THEY ARE REDESIGNING MOTORS ON THESE NEW BIKES, THEY ARE MADE TO FAIL. I HAVE A 1986 XR600R THAT HAS NEVER HAD ANY MOTOR WORK DONE BUT THE OIL ,BRAKES ,SPROCKETS & CHAIN AND TIRES~! THIS IS PROGESSIVE RETARDEDNESS IF YOU ASK ME... BUILD THEM LIKE THEY DID BACK IN THE DAY~! I BOUGHT THIS RAPTOR NOT KNOWING THESE THINGS AND NOW I KNOW..... YOURS TRULY, EDWARD GASIOR

Took a little longer to get here but I didn’t need the part that day.
