The Cramps-Songs The Lord Taught Us-CD-2005
Having spent my teen adolescence in a mid sized town in Rural Georgia my exposure to music was Country&Western,Southern Rock,Top 40 Pop,and finally Gospel with a little smattering of high brow Classical music thrown into the mix. I had no idea that this kind of music existed until I was in my 20s in the mid 1980s, therefore I had essentially missed the Punk/New Wave movements in Music. Back then being a staunch conservative conformist I was'nt too impressed with this style when I first heard it at a friends house one evening but, over the years it stuck in the back of my mind. I'm 46 now and I have developed a healthy appreciation for this Genre of music. What prompted me to buy this CD was that I had previewed it on YouTube in its entirety I was enthralled with the pounding percussive rhythms and the very primal and visceral guitar work of Poison Ivy. Two tracks in particular (Tear It Up and The Mad Daddy) are the kind of songs you would want blaring out of loudspeakers if you were going going into battle as background music. In other words what I'm try'in to say is is this S--- F----- Kicks A-- Dude!!!!!! I did'nt like every track on the CD but the ones I did like far outnumbered the ones I did'nt. And if you like your Punk lite with its high Octane RockaBilly sound on Steroids I would highly recommend this CD to the beginner level officianado or the Hard Core vet who pines for those early halicion days of the cultural youth rebellion against the blandness of 70s music and the burnt out "Flower Power" generation of the 60s.

Osprey Men At Arms Series-The Confederate Army Vol.1
I've collected Osprey books for 20+ years. The Confederate Army I now have volumes #1-4.I still have yet to obtain #5&6.The Osprey books are by no means the bible on any subject cover and some of their earlier issues have minor detail errors. What makes up for for that are some pretty rare photos they use in them. And their colour images are done by some of the best military illustrators in the business. And those alone are worth the price of admission. I recommend these books for the figure painter or model builder.Militaria collectors will find them a very rudimentary source of information for weapons, uniforms, and kit.To the historical reenactor this is a very useful visual aid when consulting their unit's authenticity officers. This series of titles shows and describes the various uniforms of the Confederate army emphasizing their state, and militia origins with their regulations of the period. The information is all very basic & thumbnail. However, for the individual who has no knowlege whatsoever on a particular topic it is a good way to get their feet wet.Overall the various series of Osprey books are pretty for what they do.Just keep in mind reading these things does not make you an expert. best regards, Randall B. Hitler's Home Guard:Volkssturmmann:Osprey-Warrior Serie
I have been a Military Figure Painter since the age of 7. A Militaria collector since the age of 12. And a Historical Reenactor (Cival War,WWI,WWII,1st Century Roman Legionarry) since 1982. And not to forget a model builder mostly Tanks of WWII. I have been collecting Osprey books for years (Men At Arms,etc.etc.). They are an excellent in a nut shell refernce source. The photo illustrations are generally good though sometimes they appear in other publications as well and are well known. Their writers are usually spot on but, be aware they do make mistakes occasionally which is human so don't be too hard on them. The people who write and do research for them are 1st rate historians. Now, this entry in the Warrior Series covers the last ditch soldiers of the Wehrmacht the Volkssturm tehnically the Nazi Party's Militia. There's not a whole lot you can say about them and this tome does a very good job of using the available material out there on the subject. The art work is very good and gives a reasonably accurate depiction of this last line of defenders of the Reich. I would recommend this book to someone who is just beginning thier studies of the Soldiers of the Second World War. The reenactor will find this book useful in putting a basic impression together or for the more expierienced reenactor to provide him with enough information on the subject to carry on a reasonbly intelligent conversation with other reenactors and not come off as an idiot. Whether you are a person interested in history, a model/figure painter,a militaria collector,or a reenactor. The Osprey series of books is not a bad source of information for the money. Hey, they're not the bible but I have over a 100 or so in my collection covering several different periods I'm interested in. In short, buy this book you won't go wrong on this.
