factory part for far less then my local dealer wanted

Come on people, don't throw it away! Buy the parts and dig in. Its not that hard.
I'm far above average when it comes to repairing anything. But this is the most common failure in garage door openers. The parts are cheap and it is not difficult to repair once you have it on the work bench with the included instructions. Buy the parts and dig into it people. Just make sure you use the model number on your unit label tag to order the correct kit.

worked perfect
It is a factory part so it works perfect. Viking parts are never cheap but they are made to be used several hours a day for years.
