Incredible value for money
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Let's be honest, most people stay with their satellite or cable providers because they want to have the extra channels over and above the basic five terrestrial ones and also to have the facility to record programmes (including series link) as well as the be able to pause and rewind live broadcasts. Even with a basic service, a charge of £30-£40 per month is not uncommon (this will include a broadband package of course). For a one-off payment of £49.95, I've got all the extra channels I need (at least fifteen in HD) with the Goodmans Freeview+ box. Pause, rewind, series link all there, sufficient storage for 300 hours of programmes in standard definition - hardly any difference to HD to be honest. Easy to set up, easy to use. If you want all the subscription sports channels then this is not for you clearly and bear in mind you will need a co-axial cable attached to an outdoor aerial which is capable of receiving a digital signal (to have that installed will be between £100-£200 if you don't have it but the majority of house will have this anyway, I'm sure). For the internet, it will be necessary to take out a separate broadband/landline package but you are talking about £18 a month for an ASDL line. For me it's saving something like £20 a month using an excellent product that works really well, to use the cliche, it does what it says on the box.

Dated but still very useful and has a certain charm about it
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich It is quite dated now and almost certainly doesn't reflect the modern day Greek culture. There are no references to things such a mobile phones or the internet and many of the narrative descriptions relate to a time when chaps sat in cafes with a small cup of coffee and a liqueur playing cards (with never a woman to be seen). So, very much of its time but with a certain charm and nostalgia. As for the language aspect - it was designed to accompany those rather lightweight language learning programmes from the BBC that were always shown on a Sunday morning at 11.30am or thereabouts that had no pretensions other than to teach you the very basics of the language. Would I recommend it - yes, definitely. Good for nostalgia and it would definitely be a help in learning the Greek language if used in conjunction with other courses. Well worth buying if you are interested in learning Greek.
