Not for the hearing impaired
1 von 3 finden das hilfreich The overall for this DVD set is good for people who would like to see WW2 with CGI, but as a present for someone who was actually in the war and lost their hearing I would steer clear of it. There is no "closed caption" or any caption of any kind. It was quite a disappointment for my deaf grandfather.

Galaxina, complete uncut version at last!!!
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich It took them 31 years, but they finally released a version of Galaxina that has all the original scenes intact! If you are a fan like me and have loved this movie enough to collect all the different versions (VHS, Laser disc, DVD, 25th Anniversary, etc.) then you MUST get this one too! Unlike all other versions, this version is not only HD, but also has about 12 additional small scenes that were cut from the movie and have never been seen before. For example: the scene where Galaxina is watching a commercial for the "claws" and the guy in the commercial just says "p" at the end for no apparent reason, this version fills in the gaps and you can finally see the full commercial after all these years! Also, if you are a fan of Dorothy Stratten, it is simple awesome to see her face in HD! Now don't get me wrong, the movie still has cheap crappy effects by today's standards and they look even cheaper in HD, they just add a new flavor to the movie in my opinion. As for the other movie included on this Blu-ray, unless you want to see a boring, corny, 1977 HD movie with even cheaper effects than Galaxina, don't even bother watching it. Not sure why they thought the two movies go good together, but they totally do not. However, for me the additional scenes in Galaxina are worth the purchase price alone. Also, I'm giving this Blu-ray 5 stars because they did what no one else that released the movie did, and that is to let us see the full uncut version at last!!!

80s masterpiece!
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich I love anything from the 80s and this story really goes that extra mile describing the time period. The music and culture is there all throughout the story and really brings back memories. The music, games, TV shows, clothing, and speech is all accurate for the time period. Being from Houma, LA, I remember the places in the story well and it was a real treat to revisit them. The story itself starts off with a bang, then slows to a crawl, and leads up to the dramatic climax that continues on in the next book, "The Gang Wars". I would recommend this book to anyone who grew up in the 80s. The nostalgia alone is worth the read!
