Kenwood KDC-W3534A CD Player

Excellent model from the Kenwood range for the price. Has great sound quality which can be tailored to each source ie tuner or CD individually using the Q sound system. Some of the buttons are a bit small and fiddly but you would really only use these when setting the system up - in other words not when driving! Unit has a quality look and feel to it and the volume control is very big and easy to use. Things I like are the big CD pause control button, mute button , and the clear display - no flashing disco lights on this which is a bonus, ability to play CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 and WMA with track listing display. Things I don't like are the lack of auto display dimmer ( has to be done manually ), volume and mute buttons being on the left side of the unit ( a big stretch in my car ); when will manufacturers realise that at least HALF of the world still drives on the left with right hand drive cars !!!, no flashing security light when the fascia is removed. Another annoying thing is the lack of a direct ISO connector into the back of the unit - you have to use a ( supplied ) adaptor which means another adaptor to find space for behind the unit when its in the dashboard which may be a problem for some - having said that it seems that most if not all manufacturers have ditched the standard ISO connectors built in on units for some reason. Anyway these are just minor irritations as the quality of sound far out ways them which is what its all about in the end. I would recommend this unit to anyone wanting a decent upgrade unit without breaking the bank.

DCC chip wouldn't work in the loco ( it'...

DCC chip wouldn't work in the loco ( it's a TCS one so no surprise). Model though is fine and is now working with an up to date chip.
