Bad manufacture shipping box and styrofoam
These are great pieces to add to any layout. The problem is MTH created the styrofoam mold that holds the doodlebug in place not tight enough. I’ve purchased several of these on eBay. The pictures and descriptions were perfect and undamaged. Upon arrival, the shell would always be cracked just above the coupler. It’s not the shippers fault either. They usually wrap the box up with extra paper and bubble wrap. The issue is when and if the box is dropped on its end, the doodlebug will shift into the firm styrofoam frame and break the shell. 6 out of 6 doodlebugs have been damaged through shipping because of the styrofoam will break the plastic shell. I will only recommend this product if you pick it up yourself or find it at a train show in person.
