The BMW side emblem I purchased was some kind of fake knockoff. It did not have the double-sided tape that is required to adhere to the car. Also the two plastic pins are too long which makes them easier to break off.
I ended up purchasing two genuine BMW emblems from Turner Motorsport. They were twice as much but were correct and much better quality.
