Super performances in fine sound but at a high price
These performances by the Ancerl-conducted Czech Philharmonic were very satisfying in concept and in sound. Prices in USD are still higher than they need to be, however.

A fine performance in disappointing sound
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich The SACD processing resulted in a noticeably - but not dramatically - improved sonic picture (compared to the CD) of this performance. Unfortunately - at least to my ears- the voices seemed to often to be swallowed by the LSO as conducted by Abbado. This I think was a miscalculation by the producer and engineers. Then again, as always with DG / Universal, we are kept in the dark about the actual source that was transferred for SACD processing . Was it the original master tape..or something else - like an intermaster that was used for the LP and CD releases? Who knows as DG Universal remains very vague about the whole matter. So, is this the best sound for this otherwise fine performance the best we'll ever have? If so, then at least to me it is a disappointment...and thus my 3 star (really 3 1/2 star) rating. srb..

Autographed Baseball from Hall of famer
I've always admired Al Kaline , the great Hall of Fame Detroit outfielder of the 50's and 60s.. When in Detroit last year I had a chance to buy an autographed baseball by him for $100, which seemed reasonable but for some reason I didn't purchase. To my great surprise and pleasure I found and purchased subject autographed baseball for under $40 on E Bay. The only reservation ..which wasn't too important to me was that the ball did not come with an authentication certificate. As many of the autographed balls in my collection are unauthenticated (since I obtained the autographs in person) I'm not too concerned as I don't intend to sell it. .
In short, I'm very happy with what appears to be a genuine autograph by a favorite player at a very reasonable price.
