Weight: These panels are extremely light weight (21 grams); it’s lighter than a single Duracell branded AA battery. Durability & Quality: On a scale of 1-10 (1=poorest, 10=best) I would score it a 7. Light weight comes at a cost of durability. Meaning it’s fairly flimsy / flexible / bendy. But the solar panel design accommodates for this with horizontal gaps to allow for accidental & minor flexing. Important note about its construction; the product is two pieces adhered together — like a sandwich. With high heat, the adhesive softens and the two pieces begin to separate. To solve this, run a generous coating of super glue along the edges will fix this issue. Don’t step on it; The panels inside will break! POWER / VOLTAGES & CURRENT FLOW: The claimed power output is 5V @ 2,000mA (10W). This is true but these ratings are without any loads attached (something plugged in). True ratings for these panels vary by a number of mutually exclusive dependent variables. The first being the UV-Index (UVI) level (how hot/bright the sun is in your given area in accordance with a given season & time of day). In other words, If you live in a more northern region of the world, the power output of your panel will be lower than if you lived closer to the equator. For example, the state of Wisconsin has an average UVI of 4, in June, while New Mexico has a rating of 12. The higher the UVI, the more power your solar panel can produce. While in Wisconsin during June, this panel produced 5V@932mA of power; when traveling through Arizona, this solar panel produced 5.8V @ 2,397mA. Which outdoes the stated specs for this panel. It could’ve gone a lot higher but the voltage regulator inside the panel prevented this — which is good because most phones cannot withstand anything higher. If you need more power, buy multiple of these panels and daisy chain them together. This will increase your power output. Cloud coverage is also another factor to consider, as solar panels loose their power when the UVI is lowered by the clouds.
