Musical landscapes, lyrical getaways
Sonata Arctica have a great talent for keeping your attention without the desperation heard in too-too heavy music. Their energetic drum beats, driving melodies, and charming - sometimes delicate and sometimes ferocious - keyboard accents paint a musical landscape much like the setting of a story. Atop that musical setting, their singer and primary lyricist Tony Kakko crafts and sings stories with heartfelt passion with a wide tenor range. If you take the time to relax and enjoy the ride, you’ll find great beauty, humanity, and wisdom in the songs of Sonata Arctica. Unia and Reckoning Night are great chapters in the history of both the band and music in the modern age. On this double album package, you get two albums for the price of… two. But! These albums contain bonus tracks only previously released to the Japanese market. Give Reckoning Night and Unia a try.

Secret songs every Sonata Arctica fan would love
Released in limited quantity and mostly to an East-Asian market, Successor is a rare EP ideal for avid Sonata Arctica fans and collectors especially living in the Americas where this album is nearly impossible to find.
Successor contains 7 songs; 1 radio edit of Fullmoon, 2 brilliant cover songs as odes to the music which inspired the band, 1 remake of the previously released San Sebastian, 2 songs performed live and which perfectly capture the INCREDIBLE range of their singer Tony, and exemplify the high-spirited and fun energy of the entire band in terms of musical performance. However, the standout track on Successor is the previously unreleased “Shy” - a beautiful ballad - a masterpiece masterfully combining the sentiments of a hopeless romantic with those of a potential stalker. Dark, yet beautiful, once again capturing aspects of humanity in a way only Tony (lyricist)/ Sonata Arctica can. The lyrics are truly truly truly exemplary poetry which captures the reason people listen to music in the first place; passion.
10/10 recommendable.
