An old friend re-united with me.
I started reading this book in 1970, when it was easily accessible, but mislaid it during a move in 1972. I only read the first few chapters, but it was riviting then and is even better now I have read so mane oy Nevil Shute books and watched the amazing films spawned by those books. I am so pleased to finally be able to read about the man behind my favourite tales.

A perfect look at a great writer
Nevil Shute, at his best. Not spinning a yarn, but telling his own story of his early life, the 1914-18 war and how he moved on to work on the R100 and R101. A fascinating background to a fabulous writer.
