Mods to make chip 775 compatible

The chip uses two "weld" spots to reroute signals from two pins to make the chip compatible with the 775 socket. I was concerned about the thickness of the "weld" spots (eyeball guestimate 1/64" to 1/32"). Specifically, would they deform the pins in the 775 socket itself. I installed the CPU and had no problems. Concern unfounded.

Easy install, some tweaking of one or two BIOS settings needed to run at 3.0 Ghz.

I put this processor in a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 Rev 3.3 Motherboard. It fit in the 775 socket with no problem. I cleared out the Motherboard Bios (I.e. shorting Pins on MB for 20 seconds) before booting up the PC with the new processor in it. I had to manually config some of the settings as the BIOS didn't have defaults for this processor. Its very easy to do if you ever tried overclocking a CPU. I'm running the processor at a mild overclock of 3.30 Ghz with stock voltages no problem. The benchmarks say my PC is now 50% faster than with the Q6600 Quad Core, Its not really noticeable unless you get out the stopwatch, but the techie in me says its faster.. I use the PC with an SSD and 8 Gig memory as a playground for Ubuntu and its very responsive.

Motherboard worked first time, supports 4 and 6 core AMD Processors and DDR3 memory

The Motherboard fired up no problem once I installed a CPU, Heat Sink, and memory. The Motherboard can take up to a 6 core AMD Processor. The board can handle two 4 GB DDR3 Memory modules for a total of 8 GB. I'm a happy camper
