Thought changing and still very appropriate in todays world of social divide
It served as an introduction to another world, and another class of people that existed in America when I was in middle school. I am now in my 60's and I still value the lesson it taught me about looking for the value in all people rather than the differences

A life changing experiance, Highly recommend

This, and other Steinbeck novels, helped me start looking at people, who were different than myself, as individual people, not just as a member of whatever group I was linking them with. I found Cannery Row to be one of the pieces that helped open my eyes, and my heart, to the diversity of mankind, something we could use a little more of these days. Steinbeck is one of the greatest American authors, and Cannery Row is one of his finest works. Highly recommend this book.
