Best instrument ever!
Once you've got your fingering right, you cannot help but become hooked on these lovely instruments. The kaval is light, slim and graceful. It's fantastic value; it has an enormous range of notes. Tonguing, overblowing, trilling, tremolo, legato, so many different sounds can be made, from classical flute to fujara sounds, and you can change your embouchure, so it's amazingly versatile. It is mellow and haunting, has a lovely rich tone, it's quiet enough to play without annoying the neighbours, doesn't need any hard blowing, and works well with all kinds of music. It lends itself beautifully to improvisation and makes me play tunes I'd already played on other instruments in new ways. I have four of them now and no two sound alike. To those of us outside Eastern Europe, it's different and interesting and has a long history worth exploring. Although not all kavals tune well with western instruments, it is great for solo playing. The narrow airway on the dilli kaval can sound 'blocked' after a while but this can be cured by blotting up the moisture with a piece of paper. If you want ethnic woodwind, this is the instrument I recommend above all others.

Bargain of the century!
I just love this. It is easy to play, light to hold, doesn't need to be blown hard, the fingering is easy to learn, and it is only F, F# and top G that differ much from a treble recorder. You can make it sound romantic and l love trying out medieval love-songs on it, but you can also make it bluesy and jazzy, as well as oriental, and it is very expressive, trills easily and sounds gorgeous both legato and staccato, and makes you want to improvise, so it is extremely versatile. It has overtones of a chalumeau (historical clarinet) and saxophone to it, which is incredible for its size, but with the advantage of its fascinating, low-maintenance reed, and it comes in a pretty little bag, and the legend of the origin of its name is worth reading. It is a very interesting instrument, a delight and every musician should have one. I showed it to my friends and one of them has ordered two of them because of it. I hope I have started a craze. It has a sealed body so I leave it upside down to drain after playing.

Super product!
Beautiful in its detail, this great little item can be left as it is, a very pretty colour, or drilled easily without shattering if you want to thread it onto a necklace, and also looks good painted. I tried it with several of them as soon as the package arrived and the results are delightful. It is eye-catching, interesting and versatile.
