Lincoln's Melancholy
Truly an outstanding book, well-researched from a historically valid point of view as an accurate assessment of Lincoln's depression, given the time period.
The author writes very well. So well in fact that the book reads easily.
I highly recommend it to students of Lincoln and especially for mental health professionals in order to gain insight clinical depression given the context of the time.
What we know about mental health nowadays is NOT written in stone. There is so much that is unchartered territory, Lincoln gives up insight into his character and his struggle with the disease that makes that lack of enlightenment we encounter today glaringly apprarent. We can only learn from this fine book, that will readily hold your attention, and from this giant of a man.
I could not recommend this book any higher!
