The title conveys exacting what the book is all about.
Having read a lot of railway books I found this one as expected. The area is new to me, and the book was absolutely fine. With railway books in general, I feel most of them could do with having more maps. Many of us are interested in the every day operation of the railway, where the lines went to, the fares etc, rather than the motive power. Anyhow, the book is a good read and I will refer to it from time to time when I want to research the area again.

Covers the period
The book does not explore the discussions which must have been held between the German and French Governments to agree to a Vichy Government at all. It also does not explain the armistice negotiations.
Perhaps the book assumes readers will have this knowledge, but 75 years on, I dont know about it, and still dont.
