Great to make use of those 1x slots

If you have a smaller motherboard with fewer slots (or not the right size) or a smaller case, a riser like this will allow a lot of flexibility to mount an expansion card elsewhere. I haven't used it for anything except a 4x sized card, but it seemed to perform "up to speed". I'm not sure if it's possible to cram full 16x performance through a 1x sized motherboard slot though.

Great, Lenovo part for LGA 1155 M73's

Lenovo OEM FRU part, for LGA 1155 model M73 SFF desktops. There is an entirely different part/FRU for LGA 1150 M73 SFF motherboards, just make sure this is what you need and it fits perfect.

Great board for my project

I work IT support for a major aerospace company and I've become a fan of ASRock motherboards for personal use over the past few years; strong feature set at a fair price, they're reliable and just do what they're supposed to do, and they don't focus on a bunch of blingy nonsense. I needed to flash BIOS to use an AMD 5700G, but I knew this going in, and ASRock had what I needed on their site. If I had to come up with a gripe, I would have liked a front panel USB-C connector.
