Great performance from Scott Bakula
I am a big fan of Scott Bakula, having largely missed Quantum Leap (1989-1993) and Star Trek: Enterprise (2001-2005) first time around but always being impressed by the occasional episode(s) that I just so happened to catch, as well as many of Bakula's co-stars, when I was in front of the TV at the right time. So, I recently bought via eBay the DVD boxsets, all five seasons of the former, and all four of the latter - both cruelly cancelled before their time, in my view - as well as all seven seasons of NCIS: New Orleans (2014-2021), which I am yet to find time to watch, and only became aware of in passing because my wife is a fan of NCIS and I occasionally watch it with her. I therefore decided to research Bakula's career in other TV shows and in films, between 1994 and 2000, and 2006 and 2014, to explore and enjoy his acting talents in some of his lesser known roles / appearances. Anyway, Lord of Illusions is one of the few film DVDs available to purchase at a reasonable cost in the UK and, made / released in 1995, allowed me to see how Bakula was doing following the relative success of QL. He plays a private investigator who gets caught up in a weird occult-cum-satanic ritual and, in my view, does a great job. Engaging, sincere and oozing integrity, I found his character - Harry D'Amour - to be believable and enjoyable to watch. In short, the plot is interesting and the horror genre is well presented throughout, with plenty of gore! Having read some reviews of the film, I opted for the Director's Cut which is, apparently, superior to the general release. Not sure that I would leap to watch it again (pun intended), at least not before any of the above-mentioned series got another viewing, but I enjoyed it and I am glad that I took the plunge and looked beyond Bakula's better known offerings. If you appreciate Bakula's TV work then I am sure that you will enjoy this film.

Absolutely magnificent! James Spader at his very best (as always!)
Having worked my way through Seasons 1 to 8 by streaming, courtesy of Channel 4, over the previous few months, I had absolutely no chance! There was no way that I was not going to source Seasons 9 and 10. Incredible screen-writing and scripts, amazing plots and concurrent sub-plots, twists and turns. Just incredible! I really can't do it justice here. ALL of the actors are superb, be they regular, recurrent, or simply occasional guest-stars. James Spader, just awesome. Only he could have taken on and owned the role of Raymond 'Red' Reddington. The whole thing has completely blown my mind. Loved it. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. There is not one lightweight episode out of the entire 218. Hell, I even bought the unfairly much-maligned and prematurely cancelled 2017 spin-off, The Black List: Redemption, the one and only season (to be watched between the end of The Blacklist Season 4 and the beginning of Season 5. You'll see what I mean.) Just awesome. Buy/watch the whole thing. Amazing!
