Excellent expansion
Traders and Builders is exactly what a Carcassonne expansion should be. The new tiles included are very interesting and offer a lot of really great new options. The builder and pig followers and the trade tokens are excellent strategic additions to the game.
The builder gives you the option of back-to-back turn, which affords the opportunity to swing control of a feature your way or end and score a feature before someone else can steal points. This is especially crucial in a 4+ player game because of how things can change before getting to your turn again.
Although it's not a huge difference, a well-placed pig can give a nice point boost by giving you 4 points for each completed city in a field you own, instead of the standard 3.
The trade tokens are nice for the points, giving you 10 for each set you own the majority of, especially since you can get them without having to use a meeple in a city. But the most interesting part about them is in forcing you to not leave just one end of a city open, unless you're almost positive you're the only person who could finish it.
I think the best part of the expansion is how well the parts of it work together; it's definitely clear it was well thought-out and not just thrown together to add more stuff to the game. And with all that being said, it still absolutely feels like you're playing Carcassonne; nothing changes the gameplay to a point where it feels like a different game.
I highly recommend it!
